Breath, Body and Mind sessions to alleviate care partner anxiety

Janet’s story

Janet is a care partner for her husband Peter who is living with dementia. Recently Janet was experiencing high levels of anxiety as Peter was going into respite for the first time. Janet was
offered 1-2-1 Breath, Body and Mind sessions via zoom to help her cope with the anxiety.

Breath, Body and Mind sessions

Janet had three online Breath, Body and Mind sessions with a trained Breath, Body and Mind Practitioner. The Practitioner introduced Janet to a variety of breathing practices combined with simple movements to help reduce anxiety and stress. The practices were all carefully selected to gently release layers of stress and balance Janets nervous system.

After the initial breathing practices, the Practitioner introduced the core breathing technique known as ‘Coherent Breathing’. This breath pattern helped Janet to balance her nervous system and feel calm as well as alert. Janet said “It has given me the means to help me relax, be less anxious and calm myself when there’s difficult moments in my life … “I will follow the breathing videos / exercises in the future to stay calmer”. Janet then attended our four week Breath, Body and Mind course to learn the techniques more deeply.
